Stuttering Phoenixes

There are many impediments in this wide world that hinder people from achieving what they want to. One of these is the inability to provide flow of speech or stuttering. These people cannot utter many words and thus, become the laughing stock. This happens when they talk of achieving big in their life in the field of spoken language such as orating or debating. While this is true that this inability hampers them from flaunting such skills or winning accolades in them, it is nonetheless false that they won't be able to be successful in these areas. This could be seen in many people's lives. One of them is Malala Yousafzai's father. He used to stutter excessively. Though his own cousins would make fun of him in his younger days, he rose up to the occasion and wanted to prove them wrong. This, he did when there was a speech competition in his district of the precincts of Swat valley. The man became nervous the moment his name was called out. But, later, the art of his spe...

Laughing At Others Expense

When we look around in our day-to-day world, people love jeering or cat calling others every now and then. The jealousy or callousness is so much that no one dares to venture out with their vulnerable folk into the open. This, actually, is a very pesky affair in public gatherings or lonesome areas for that matter. And, as I found out, the best way to strike a conversation with someone or keep them engaged in it is to laugh or brood over someone else's expense. To be precise, if anyone in this whole wide world has cheated on you or your hate is common with those in the conversation, use it for the fodder in such a verbal exchange. What transpires is that the person develops a good bonhomie with you and becomes a loyal conversation partner. Later, he can be a friend too. The dosage for this type of bonhomie is once or twice a day. Keep ingesting and ward off trouble. And for the record, don't mess with the dosage. A physician helps!

The Street-smart Wreath

Being street-smart is a blessing and a curse too. It's a blessing for those who are quite highly placed in the society and have an enjoyable reputation. This may be their weight in education, job, affluence, assets, philanthropic status or more. The moment they exhibit some wise leanings like snubbing downcast and devious people who plot schemes or camaraderie with people of their status or behave prudently with their subordinates at workplaces, the onlookers dub them to be street-smart in a good way. This case gets skewed when people of a lower status are seen being street-smart. The bystanders, who witness this, label them to be ruffians and goons or with menial jobs. Status in the society changes everything one is perceived as. Creditworthiness becomes nil when such people adopt some subterfuges or have skills like driving or ability to repair some leaky faucets or some other skills. These people may be called drivers or plumbers or electricians. But the ones with white col...

Danger At Close Quarters

The greatest enemies of a person are the ones in his close quarters. He does not have to look far. These friends turned foes can inflict a great harm on him. Often, the victim is a renowned, acclaimed and a honored person. I can share about some. A well known star from the entertainment industry was privy to this situation. His retinue of professionals sought to mar this person's reputation of being a maven. To be precise, they called his composed lyrics a sham. This was not true to a great extent, as this exists in every celebrity's songs. Moreover, there was a great propaganda to defame him. But he bore it all. It affected his record sales, though. Another person depicted in the classic literature is Julius Caesar. His own friend, Brutus, killed him and Caesar never expected this from such a close confidante. Also, Jesus Christ was betrayed into the hands of his murderers by his own disciple, Iscariot, as he knew where to find Him. People need not look for foes among s...

Revolting Happenings

The moment you are overwhelmed with love for kinsmen, it shouldn't be necessarily acted upon. The fact that a lavished love can spell doom to your tranquil surroundings or barter peace for their ends can very much be on the cards. There are many noted examples of such behaviour among kinsmen of renowned and famed people. There was one celebrated poet known for his prowess in the vernacular language. His ancestors yielded to their heart's desire. They welcomed many kinsmen with their families to live in their palatial house. Slowly, things started deteriorating and the peace in their house was gone. Many metaphysical happenings too impeded  the house owner's family's success and health. Had they been vigilant before, the debacle in their family's fortune would be averted. The brazenness made sure that the celebrated person's work too was affected- though for periodic bouts. Be accommodating to your kin, but there needs to be a limit. Never cross limits and bri...

The Mezzanine Level

There exists a mezzanine level in a building as sure as the same in life's frailties and inclinations. Though people identify themselves with discrete longings and groups, this is prevalent everywhere. The observers just do not get it right. And this is sober. Not everyone is classifiable. To get this straight, imagine the rift between feminism and misogyny. Not everyone can be classified as a misogynist or feminist. It depends on the person whom he meets. He develops prejudice on these impressions. Later, on account of observing the oppression of women and their libertarian lives, he can be christened as a bit of both of these groups. There seems to be a clarity in such grouping. Never can people be labelled as such. There are various kinds of demographics they can be listed with. Hence, group people based on their individual habits and not on the discrete labels. These tend to beguile everyone into totalitarian principles. A broad-minded approach works.

Antidote For Malfeasance

Malfeasance is prevalent in many top regions- be they developed nations or those that are labelled as developing. This can be corroborated by the fact that  Corruption Perceptions Index from Transparency International has many of these categorized nations. It is to be noted that India is ranked 79 in this index. This comes as  no surprise. Sometime back, I read about a newspaper report regarding a man who had the option of getting his lost college marks card redone, but through bribing the concerned authority. This gets more appalling as the person would forego a very important or somewhat coveted post in an organization. Instead of yielding to this situation, the man did not encourage this malfeasance. He waited for a long time and got his marks sheet in old age. Such is the grit of this man that he has no regrets. The fact that he lost an illustrious career because of this does not perturb him- come whatever may. The antidote for such bribery and brazenness is n...
